‘poor taste’

Dear Editor:

There are times it seems to me.

when silence is consent, and con-
sent is not my intention in this
case. | refer to the recently run (no
doubt syndicated) column Ask Dr.
Ruth in the Lifestyles section of
the North Shore News.

This is not what I call ‘com-
munity heart.’ This is trash that
used to be in the magazines back in
my days in the lumber camps. To
put this sort of titillating nonsense
in a family newspaper is
disgusting. I am amazed at the
poor taste.

1 have received calls from
parents whose school-age children
have expressed disgust. Do we
have to begin hiding our ‘com-
munity’ newspaper from our
young children or do you think we
should start - ‘educating’ them
about ‘‘clitoral and vaginal
orgasms’’ so they won't grow up
to be naive? This sort of editorial
licence is pollution if ever I’ve seen
it.
