Lacrosse rule changes

MINOR lacrosse in British
Columbia has scrapped the
one-year divisional system
and reverted to the tradi-
tional two-year age groups
for 1986.

The new legislation was
passed at the recent annual
meeting of the B.C. Lacrosse
Association and, along with
a house league concept, is
designed to attract more
players to the game.

George Gocdrich was elected
BCLA president. Peter
Avender, last year’s BCLA
president, was elected early
in November as president of
the Canadian Lacrosse
Association.

Western Lacrosse
Association statistician Stan
Shillington of Coquitlam
was singled out for special

mention in the association's
volunteer recognition pro-
gram.

Fred Aspin of Richmond
was awarded the 1985 Tom
Gordon Plaque for his
outstanding efforts.

Meanwhile, Brian Spaven
of Victoria won the Coach
of the Year award as coach
of the gold medal winners at
the Canada Summer Games.
