bores mn Gov't gives grant money to Beacon Hill WEST VANCOUVER’S Beacon Hill Lodge has received a $4,700 grant from the federal gov- ernment. The lodge, recently beset with controversy over the number of wheelchairs in its lobby, was awarded the grant through the National Health and Welfare’s New Horizons Program. John McRae, vice-presi- dent of the Beacon Hill Lodge residents council, said the grant money, which the lodge received Friday, would be put towards construction of a residents’ kitchen facili- ty. THERAPEUTIC “The kitchen will be a great asset for all the resi- dents here,’’ McRae said. "it will allow them to enter- tain family and friends, have them over for dinner. The whole thing will be very therapeutic.” Total cost of the project, McRae said, will be approx- imately $11,000. Money from the grant coupled with $2,000raised by the residents and $1,600 donated by the lodge leaves an approximate $2,500 shortfall, which the residents will endeavor to generate through their Sun- shine Club. ~ McRae ‘said the residents ‘applied for, the grant May 28. —C«;w . . ; Influenza shot clinics open INFLUENZA immunization clinics start in North and West - Vancouver this week.
