NV endurance runner posts
Canadian best time in Utah

NORTH VANCOUVER'S Enzo
Federico placed seventh at the
Wasatch 100 Mile Endurance Race
in Sundance, Utah — in the pro-
cess posting the best-ever time of
a Canadian competitor,

One of four 160-mile trail races
in the western United States, the
Wasatch is considered the
toughest, with an elevation gain of
23,200 ft. (6,960 m), and descent
of 20,500 ft. (6,150 ni) over the
100 mile (161 km) course.

Frederico started the foot race
at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11,
and crossed the finish line at 7:13
a.m. the following morning with
an official time of 26 hours, 12
minutes, and 34 seconds,

Temperatures reached the upper
90s (Farenheit) during the day
portion of the race.

pleted the gruelling run in a time
of 26:24.23. Federico’s total run
time was 24 hours and 46 minutes.

22:14.51. The women’s winner
was Utah’s Deborah Wagner who
crossed the finish line in 24 hours,
34 minutes and 54 secosids.
