Festival begins its 10-day run
tomorrow and once again,
the North Shore will have a
pretty decent showing.

Local playwright Maureen
Robinson and My Dog Produc-
tions mount the new play Pair
O'Dice Lodge at Theatre 7. Robin-
son’s black comedy, previewing
this week at the Deep Cove Shaw
Theatre, involves a_ clandestine
encounter at the Pair O'Dice
Lodge. . ;

Also at Theatre 7, Toronto writer
Valen Watson's Kokol From
Masset, a richly textured and hu-
marous work, stars local actor-
dancer Sally Williams Pardee.

Kokol tells the story of an English
woman who reveals her strengths
and weaknesses and deepest
desires while ‘living in a Haida
community at the northern tip of
the Queen Charlotte Istands.

Still at Theatre 7, Former
Handsworth student Michelle Rim|
is mounting Miss Teen, a black
comedy written from first-hand
experience. The 27-year-old play-
wright was crowned Miss Teen
Vancouver when she was 15. Hu-
morous and touching, the play
deals with death’ and. "dying and
looking fresh as a daisy for the
cameras.
