“The North American con-
sumer only thinks of today and
possibly of tommorrow, said
Nemes of the local tendency to
use short term planging when it
comes to our homes.

He says he also gave lacal con-
sumers a lot more credit for being
selective in regards to what their
roofs look like.

“TE realized there was a demand
for beter looking product than
what the industry was willing to
offer.” said Nemes.

But before he could offer a
better alternative, Nemes had to
find or develop one, ‘To do this he
followed the development of the
industry in Europe.

His thought process (ook bim
from asphalt shingles which are
very affordable, but not very
durable to aluminum to clay and
concrete which is more durable,
but much toc heavy.

Like the Europeans, he
stopped at steel which he says
dominates the north European
market having captured nearly
80% of the available business,

Although the cost of steel as a
roofing material can be quite high,
Nemes says its advantages not
only outweigh the cost, but actual-
ly make up for it,
