in case the tax department some-
how thinks you have. J opened
my mail the other day to find a
reassessment notice for the 1993
tax year together with a bill for

$630.96. Turns out the CBC had’.

sent Revenue Canada information
showing payment for broadcast
work I'd done that year. My per-
sonal tax return didn’t reflect that
payment because my wife and I
“work for our own company and
all such payments are made to the
company. So I’m sending in a
copy of the T4A slip made out to
our company. I can also produce
copies of the slips showing
deposits of the cheques to the
company’s bank account.

Revenue Canada has pledged
to increase its efforts to detect —
and then coliect tax on — unde-
clared income: ;

As part.of this campaign, the
tax department fistens to tips
from disgruntled ex-spouses,
business partners and others about
unreported income.

You might be upset about tax
