Bizarre auction of awful art attracts cele

Grace McCarthy was the
sparkplug behind this year’s event,
which was started by thase two
whackos Norinan Watt and Bilt
Goodacre 18 years ago to benefit
the B.C. Paraplegic Association.

The stars of the night were Mit-
zi Gaynor and her old pal, Hugh
Pickett.

The shapely blonde would love
to come back to perform at the
new Vogue theatre for at least a
week and each night could be a
charitable fundraiser. Hugh's
working on that idea right now.

Mitzi and husband Jack Bean
marked their 39th wedding anni-
veisery during their stay at
Michast Kaile’s Waterfront Centre
Hotel and celebrated in style at
Bianco Nero...

Some of the notables at the
WWOOP dinner were television
stars Kevin Evans, Gloria
Macarenko, Tony Parsons,
Deborra Hops, Norm Grohmann
and Wayne Cox.

Another special guest was Dr.
Michael Smith, the Nobel Prize
winner in chemistry who'll receive
his prestigious award in
Stockholm next month,

Twirling around the ballroom
was the consul for Guinea. Ray-
mond Saunders, the Landmark
Clocks businessman who built the
famous steain clock in Gastown,
while Sen. Ray Perrault and his
re-elected politician-wife Barbara,
were tripping the light fantastic
with Jim O'Hara and his florist
wife, Lois Keene.

James is the consul for the Cote
d'Ivoire.

Definite!y one of the mast
distinguished and decorated men
at the affair was Fritz Ziegler,
consul for Monaco. He and his
wife Nancy were also celebrating
Prince Rainier’s birthday that
same evening.

The most ecstatic guest at the
ball, though, had to le Gracy
Sigmund, who won the top dvor
prize of two executive class seats
and one week's accommodation in
Beijing.
