3% salary imcrease approved for council NORTH VANCOUVER City councillors have voted themselves a 3% pay rise for 1993 by a narrow 4-3 margin. By Stephen Wisenthal Contributing Writer As a result of the raise, Mayor Jack Loucks will receive $48,714 in “indemnity and remuneration” next year,. while: the six council members will each be paid $16,238. By comparison West Van- couver’s mayor will be paid $51,900 in 1993; while West Van- couver councillors will be paid $17,060 in 1993. North Vancouver District’s mayor is currently paid $58,232; North Vancouver District coun- cillors are paid $19,422. City councillors Stella Jo Dean, Rod Clark and Barbara Perrault ‘opposed the increase, which was approved at the Dec. 7 council meeting, but Loucks and the other three council members said that if North Vancouver fell behind now, there would only have to be a cat- ch-up increase later.
