RESPONSE TO the call for
entries in the Canadian
Home Builders’ Associaticn
of B.C.’s greatly expanded
and renamed awards pro-
gram has been overwhelm-
ing, reports 1992 Provincial
Housing Awards committee
chairman Bryan Shrake.
When entries closed July
31, a total of 257 entries
had been received for the 40
categories which comprise
the new Georgie Awards.
“(Members of our judging
panel — most of whom
have considerable experience
in these matters — were
tremendously impressed
with both the number of en-

tries and the high quality of
submissions,’’ said Shrake.

Judging took place
August 6 and 7, under the
supervision of Arthur
Anderson & Co. auditor
Kelvin Lum.

Chairman of the judging
panel was California-based
show producer Peter Mayer,
who will produce the up-
coming Georgie Awards
ceremony. ~~ .

Presentation of the first
“Georgies’”’ will take place
on Saturday, October 3,
3992, at a blue ribbon
awards ceremony in the
Hyatt Regency Hotel. The
ceremony is to be held in

conjunction with the Cana-
dian Home Builders’
Association of B.C.’s 25th
Annual Builders’ Show and
Conference.

Established to recognize
and encourage excellence in
all aspects of the home
building industry, the
Georgie Awards are open to
not only the home builders,
but to all those involved
with the industry, including
developers, architects, land-
scapers, municipalities,
advertising agencies, interior
designers, subtrades,
pliers and manufacturers.
