20 - Friday, September 14, 1990 - North Shore News Sutherland students win scholarships SUTHERLAND SECONDARY School students in North Van- couver managed to win more than $70,000 in scholarships during the 1989-90 school year. Some of the top winners in- cluded Shawna Pilgrim) and Susanne Cice who were both awarded the Gordon Shrum scholarship from Simon Fraser University (SFU), valued at $17,000 each. Only 16 such scholarships are awarded each year province-wide. In addition, Pilgrim picked up the Premier’s Award for Ex- cellence for the Capilano College region, valued at $5,000. The award is presented by Premier Bill Vander Zalm in Victoria and is the third time in the last four years that the award has gone to a Sutherland student.
