High-speed marine passenger service studied

PROPOSALS to study the feasi-
bility of providing a high-speed
marine passenger service to West
Vancouver and other communities
along the shores of Burrard Inlet
will be reviewed by a task force
appointed by BC Transit chairman
Stuart Hodgson.

In a press statement, Hodgson
said: “*This high-speed marine pas-
senger service is being considered
as a transit alternative, designed to
provide transportation to the peo-
ple who travel to and from Port
foody, Coquitlam, West Van-
couver and downtown Vancouver,

native, we will simply be making
the most of 2 natural right-of-way
that already exists."°

David Jacox, a travel and
marine consultant, has been named
coordinator for the task force.

Vessels used in the system could
be constructed in North Shore
shipyards.
