robbed, beaten

A MAN who was hitchhiking from! North Vancouver’ to Burnaby :

was beaten and robbed by two men who- stopped to pick him up
Oct. 11,

The men, driving a brown Camero or Trans Am, picked up the
hitchhiker at approximately 4 a.m. and drove him to a secluded
section of the old Lillooet Road. ! |

They stopped the car and ordered him to turn over his money.

In an ensuing fight, the victim was struck over the head with a
beer bottle and then repeatedly kicked and punched by the two
assailants.

They stole over $100 cash anit a re gym bag from the victim and
then fled the scene.
| The victim was taken to Lions, Gate Hospital where he was

An investigation by North ;Vaneoaver RCMP continues.

A 34-YEAR-OLD North Van-
couver man was fined $300 Friday
in North Vancouver provincial
court after he pleaded guilty to two
charges of hit and run.

Gordon Berg was originally
charged in connection with inci-
dents Sept. 5 in which his 1975
Mercury Monarch collided with an
unattended 1972 Datsun in the
300-block of East Third Street and
a 1976 Plymouth in the 400-block
of St. Andrews Avenue.

Appearing before Judge J.B.
Paradis, Berg pleaded guilty to
both charges of failing to stop and
provide his name and other perti-
nent information at the scene of an
accident. He was fined $150 on
each charge.
