Whether a hospital should administer therapeutic abortions is undoubtedly im- portant, yet there are other just as pressing issues fac- ing hospital board members that seem to be forgotten NAME come election time. Lions Gate Hospital has been a hot-spot since anti- ide UBJEGT abortionists first captured a majority on the board H { seven years ago. Since then, the two sides have traded PLdiiiinic control. The current board is dominated by those sup- porting a woman’s right to an abortion. As a result of the passions aroused by the debate, membership in the hospital society has jumped by 1,000 in the past year. But neither the board members nor those voting for them should focus solely on the abortion issue. Other sorely-needed problems the board should be addressing include cost-effective. hospital care and prventive programs, meeting the needs of the area’s zrowing senior population, meeting health-care needs for AIDS patients and post-discharge programs.
