winter months of Gciober to April.
If nobody is there to sée it, nobody
buys it, if nobody buys it, very few
are grown.

This medium to large sized
deciduous shrub can reach 10 feet,
but pruning can keep it at six or
less. It has dark green, three inch
oval leaves which turn an attractive
dark scarlet before dropping in the
fall. As mentioned, the outstan-
ding feature are the October to
April borne extremely fragrant
flowers.

V.xBodnatense has several
varieties. Best known is ‘Dawn’ or
‘Pink Dawn’ which have pink
flowers that open during milder
sunny periods throughout the
winter. An excellent choice for
cutting and bringing indoars as the
fragrance is enhanced in the’
warmth.

‘Grow it in full sun (six hours or
more) in average to rich soil with
reasonable drainage. Feed with
rhododendron and. azalea feed at
tne same time as the rhodos. Prun-
ing is best done by the thinning
method from November to Febru-
ary; a little at a time, bringing the
cutting indoors.
