IT’S NOT AS MUCH of a
surprise today to see a man in
a ladies’ beauty salon than it

used to be.

Some years ago the only
man you’d expect to see there
was the stylist himself, often
the owner of the salon. If you
look further back, men were
not at all in beauty salons. It

was women’s territory.
Today it is not unusual to
see, seated side by side, a
man and a woman, waiting to
have their hair cut and styled
by the same _ hairstylist.
Perhaps, they talk to each

other about anything, or
about their hair. Why not0O
Hair is hair.

Naturally, a man does not
go for fancy hairstyles or
vibrant colors but when it
comes to other services such

as permanent waving, condi-
tioning or scalp treatments,
they both use the same pro-
ducts and the same techni-
ques are applied.

More hairstylists are train-
ed now-a-days to work with
both ladies’ and men’s hair.
There is even a new licence in
Ontario, which attests that
