enrolled in the Vancouver
School of Theology, U.B.C.,
and was ordained into the
Anglican priesthood upon
graduation in 1927. Shortly
afterwards he married the
daughter of his long-time
friend and mentor, Canon
H.G. King, of St. Paul’s,
Vancouver.

In the Second World War
Lt. Daniel served as the first
chaplain at the Sea Island
Base, Vancouver, later
becoming the principal
chaplain for the Victona
area.

After demobilization Lt.
Daniel was given special
dispensation from Bishop

He wanted a
more useful life

Heathcote, Bishop of the
New Westminster diocese,
enabling him to _ provide

assistance to veterans
through the newly formed
Department of Veterans Af-
fairs. In the first year he was
involved with 75 individual
families at various stages of
breakdown. The last 15 years
of his work were spent with
the medical Social Service,
operating out of Shaughnessy
Hospital.

As one of about 200 sur-
viving Canadian World War
I flyers, Mr. Daniel will
pause for the customary two
minutes silence on Remem-
brance Day, honoring fallen
comrades and recalling an ex-
perience which helped shape
his entire life.
