host. the’ 14th annual Small
Business’ Week from today to
Saturday, Oct. 30.

This year’s theme, Challenge
and Change: Staying On Top, will
focus on how small businesses can
stay ahead of competitors, capi-
talize on technological change and
make quality customer service a
priority.

A wide range of events is being
organized, including workshops,
award presentations, en-
trepreneurial trade shows, business
luncheons and conferences for
entreprencurs.

Last year during Smal! Business
Week, North Vancouver
businessmen Todd Edmondson
and Martin Ortmayr of Terminal
Video Listing imc., won the fifth
annual FBDB Young Entrepreneur
Award for B.C.

INSURANCE AWARD

NORTH VANCOUVER insurance
adjuster Ron Newcomb has been
chosen the second annual recipient
of the Insurance Person of the
Year award.

Newcomb was president of

justers, until he stepped. down
from the @sy-to-day management

‘duties this year.

He has also been active in in-
surance industry affairs in Van-
couver and Winnipeg.

Newcomb is. past ‘national
chairman of the board of govern-
ors of the Insurance Institute of
Canada, a major industry educa-
tional arm.

He wiil receive his award at the
Salute °93 banquet on Oct. 28, at
the Hyatt Regency Hotei:
