Make clear, readable signs with large print that includes the dates and address of the sale. Use hard cardboard and secure signs tightly so they don’t fold or flap in the wind. Make sure you gather them up after your garage sale. ~ Start your sale early in the morning. Many bargain hunters hit the streets carly ‘and you'll miss Out on possi- ble sales if you're late setting - up. Mark prices clearly on all items and price things reason- ably. The object should be to get rid of things and make a i little money, not to score big profits. After the sale, contact one of your local charities and donate the unsold items and other things you’ve marked to give away. Consumers and contractors may drop off latex and oil-based paints, shellacs and stains on Saturday, Sept. 28, bernveen 9 am. and 3 p.m. at the northwest corner of the Lonsdale recreation centre parking lot, 2300 Lonsdale Ave., North Van. A limit of 10 paint containers per vehicle is requested. Any reusable paint collected will be set aside and offered free to the public on a first come, first served basis. The event is sponsored by the E Paint Care Associati (PCA), an association of more than 55 paint companies that started the government-approved paint stewardship pro- gram in September 1994.
