A couple walking in the
Lower Lonsdale area
were the victims of a
strong-arm robbery.

Police said aman

approached the couple on the -

evening of Aug, 24 and told
them he would hurt the

woman if her boyfriend did nor
hand over some money.

The robbery occurred on
West Esplanade near Chester-
field Avenue.

The man took off on foot
after receiving an undisclosed
amount of cash, according to a
North Vancouver RCMP
spokesman,

The thief is described as
being a black male, 35 years old,

@ threatened and robbed

1.7 m (5°8") and 68 ky (150
ibs). He was wearing, glasses
which had a sticker on the lens.

The victims described him
as a thin, shaky person whe
spoke with a slight Caribbean
accent.

Mounties are also. investi-
gating an armed robbery
which occurred on the same
day ata service station in the
100-block of Riverside Drive.

A man armed with a knife
and wearing a black bandanna
over his face walked into the
station at 8:30 a.m,

He demanded cash and cig
arettes. The robber is de-
scribed as being a Caucasian or
native male, 1.7 m (5°8”) with
astim build, He was we caring a
red jacket.
