Lions advance
to Grey Cup

IT WILL be an all-West final this year after the B.C. Lions and
Winnipeg Blue Bombers won berths in the annual East-West Grey
Cup classic.

It is the first time for an all-West geme in Grey Cup’s 76-year
history.

The Lions advanced to the final scheduled for next Sunday in
Ottewa after beating Edmonton Eskimos 37-19 in the Canadian
Football League's western division final.

Meanwhile in Eastern action The Bombers upset the Toronto
Argonauts 27-11.

‘WV woman tackies|
cross-country run

CINDY GRANT will compete in the Senior Women’s Cross-
Country chamepionship race on Nov. 26 at UBC.

The race wilt feature several of Canada’s Olympic distance run-
mers seeking to represent their country 2t the World Cress Country
championships in Stavenger, Norway next March.

Grant, froin West Vancouver, finished third at the 1988 Cana-
Gan Track and Field championships. She was a member of the
1987 Canadian cross-commtry tear: that competed in Warsaw
Poland, and the UBC/Richmond High Performance Middle
Distance Unit.

The women’s six kilometre race begins at 1:45 p.m.

of X-country race

CROSS-COUNTRY skiing is taking a big stride forward with the
B.C. 7-Up Cup Races at Hollyburn Ridge in West Vancouver.

The race imcludes classic style on Dec. 17 and free technique on
Dec. 18,

Th: one to 10 kilometre events hosted by the Nordic Ski Racers
Club are for ali ages. For more information call Maureen Defoe at
738-7185 or Sam Robbins at 583-2571.

Entry deadline is Dec. 15 at $ p.m.

OLYMPIA GOLDCAPS bianked the Avzion Rangers 8-0 in recent
locsl North Shore Men’s Coaches Soccer League action.

In other play, Lysnweoad Nordic shut out Molsons in a 4-0 win,
while the Mt. Seymour Ravens and Coach House ended in a 2-2
drav.

Neither FC Germania nor Norvan could get on the scoreboard
with a 0-0 tie. OK Tire edged Fosters 1-0 and Pemberton defeated
Park Royal 3-1. Swan Lager meanwhile topped Candia 2-0.
