Man guilty of
weapons charges

A 22-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was placed on probation
for three years Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to three weapons
related charges.

Jon Smythe was originally charged with possession of a sawed-
off shotgun, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of ‘boken’
karate fighting sticks, possession of spiked boots and possession of
three darts.

The charges were laid against Smythe after police seized the
weapons Nov: 30.

Appearing before North Vancouver provincial court Judge J.K.
Shaw, Smythe pleadcd guilty to possession of the shotgun, karate
sticks and darts.

In addition to the probation, Symthe was ordered to perform 200

* hours of community work and prevented from possessing weepons
or any martial] arts equipment except books.

Woman guilty
of assauit

A 20-YEAR-OLD Port Moody woman will be sentenced Jan. 30
after being found guilty of assault.

Lisa Anne Langan was originally charged jointly with Brian

’ David Couch, 22, of North Vancouver with one count of assault in

connection with a May 11 incident in which a woman was
assaulted.

The two appeared Thursday in North Vancouver provincial court
before Judge J.K. Shaw.

The charge against Couch was subsequently dismissed.

course offered

‘| Organizers say the oudfo-visual presentation will provide stu-
