Sell-out dinner fetes retired Capilano MP YEARS ‘as a caring, hardworking MP reaps its rewards. So Ron Huntington discovered at dinner last Friday evening. Nearly 450 guests packed the Alpine Room at the Canyon Gardens to pay an emotional tenth-anniversary tribute to the popular retiring member for Capilano. Including MPs, MLAs and mayors, they represented virtually the entire North Shore establishment, together with many private friends and admirers. Looking fit and well after a summer convalescing from heart surgery, Mr. Hun- tington was accompanied by four generations of his fami. ly — wife Jean, his son and daughter who now run the family business, two grand- children and his 87-year-old mother Fun and sentiment in roughly equal proportions WV seeks ideas for Expo ‘86 IDEAS regarding che role of West Vancouver in bxapo (86 are being sought from unter ested individuals, organiza fhons and businesses by West Van oouncil Por thas puarpease a tows sreeting wall tye thedd tre st TPucsday (October VY) ote discuss the question W that does bapa OBO mean to West Vancouver? k phe meeeluig will take hae UN Che Commer o bagtiber t the ttratiterpyat tradl “SO P7rh Street began oat Yop um Wetter sarberpers stems pty alse tee nade praartacubanty in the ase of people unable ation on thal ev cniscige Sur dh osatertissnonrs strerud bee aadddiesscchoree TF ot) Atlas ber AVvctii pear 8 det rlibeses of Woes Noa ge “Sch dot Steeaes West Notte see we NON UPR By NOEL WRIGHT marked the after-dinner ‘troast’’ emceed by John Humphnies. Equally hilarious were the reminiscences of Hun- tington’s former fiscal agent, fundraiser-extraordinary Bob Leeson, who wound up the formahties by presenting the guest of honor with an outsize engraved champagne chalice. In his speech of thanks Mr. Huntington’ expressed his happiness over his suc- cessor, newly elected MP Mary Collins who was among the guests, and his confidence in her ability to ably represent the consti- tuency. After numerous standing ovations he was left in no doubt about Capilano’s ap- preciation of his own efforts on its behalf during the past decade - FEATURED DURING => Kelwunator WEEK AT Y.
