Dr. Ed Lipinski, director
of medical services at Simon
Fraser University and im-

mediate past president of the
Canadian Psvekiatric
Association, died in a Lisbon
hospital October 21 from
injuries received in a motor
vehitle accident in Portugal.
He was a West Vancouver
resident.

305 international delegates
to the Mine Planning and
Development Conference,
the first international
conference to be held in
China.

invited to speaker at the
conference, delivered a

Brawner delivered a lecture
series on Rock Mechanics in
Mining to Chinese university
staff and selected Chinese
mining engineers brought to
Peking from throughout
China.

During the two-hour
dinner, Brawner discussed
many topics with Vice
Chairman Teng and Minister
of the Metallurgical Industry
Tang Ke.

Teng indicated that China
must increase production of
selected commodities to
obtain foreign dollars or tax
credits. One of the com-
