A 17-year-old. North
Vancouver youth. who
kicked a person in the face,
breaking the person’s jaw in
two places, was fined $300
Wednesday in North
Vancouver Provincial Court.

Marc Howison, of 659 ”
Queens Road, pleaded guilty
to assault causing bodily
harm after an incident on
February 29.

assault took place when the
victim, who was impaired,
and a companion, were

‘Big bang’
causes
power failure

The bang was so loud on
Saturday afternoon that it
was heard across Burrard
Inlet in Vancouver, and
there were reports that some
people thought Mount
&t-Helens had blown her top
again.

But ‘all it turned out to be
was a roofer dropping some
building supplies on a hydro
wire at Fourth Street and
Chesterfield Avenue.

The accident knocked-out
power in an area bounded by
St.Andrews Avenue, Fell
Avenue and Fourth Street,
from 3:13 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

The spokesman said a
sumber of apartment
buildings and stores in the
area were affected and
traffic tie-ups resulted
because some traffic lights
were knocked out.

As the victim was getting
up, Anderson said, Howison

have retaliated when he was -

Paradis told Howison the
incident was “so out of
‘keeping... with your
background that I found
some difficulty deciding
what to do.”

“This maybe indicates to.

drinking age is 19,” Paradis
said, after Howison admitted
that he had been drinking,
the night of the incident.
