The. Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) counted 912,400 visits to the North Shore park in 1995, Next on the. GVRD park popularity list was Belcarra Regional Park, as 813,500 “people .visited the Port Moody-area park. Third-place, with 569,500 visits last. year, was Pacific Spirit Regional Park, near the University of British Columbia. In total, over 5.1 million visitors —- a new record — were attracted to the 16 regional parks monitored by the GVRD, Six new parks have been open or acquired since last year, so GVRD officials expect 1996 to be another record-setting year. A high- light of the concen will be when the band performs the RCMP’s official march, com- posed in the 1920s by Dr. Charles O’Neill. With the recent disbanding of the RCMP band, the NVYB is the only band outside the police force that is authorized to play the march. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors.
