immy Timmy’s Christmas Telethon launched the holiday season by rais- ing $4,874,556 for the B.C. Lions Society for Children with Disabilities. The 23rd annual telethon broadcast last weekend throughout the province on CBC TV and its B.C. affili- ates. It featured a collection of Canadian entertainers, high- lighted by recording artists Michelle Wright and The Rankins. Hosts Red Robinson, Gloria Macarenko, Laurie Thain and Stu Jeffries carried the show through twelve hours of heart warming sto- ties of children with great aspirations; of volunteers and fundraisers who truly sym- bolize the holiday spirit; and of cop Canadian entertain- ment. But it was the kids who stole the show. This year’s society ambassadors, |0-year- old = Robbie —_— Berkowski (Timmy) and 11-year-old twin sisters Angela and Carly Plateras (the Tammys), were at the telethon for the entire 12 hours of the show.
