MADE iN CANADA PHOTO EXHIBIT Adams wows Teronte crowd Bob Mackin News Reporter BRYAN Adams joined the dinosaur skeletons, Greek statues and Egyptian mummies at the Royal Ontario Museum to promote his first photo album last month. The former North Shore resident, who now cally London, England home, took a break Oct. 22 from his European tour to jet to Toronto from Amsterdam for the opening of his Made In Canada photo exhibit. The exhibit included black and white portraits of Canadian women culled from his Made In Canada book, published by Key Porter Books, to benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The project was suggested by supermodel Linda Evangelista when Adams played a benefit concert in her home- town of St. Catherines, Ont. A friend of Adams, identified in the book as Donna, was afflicted by the disease. Her photo- graph graces the book’s cover. She eventually died at age 38, the same age as Adams. “This exhibit encompasses 15 months of work and was both enjoyable and a challenge,” he said. It ends its run at the ROM today, but Adams told the News it will eventually be mounted in Vancouver, perhaps as soon as January. . “We got as many people as we could involved in the short period of tirne we had,” said Adams, who ‘vas also working on his Lith record album az the time of the book. Adams shot a multitude of Canadian women in London, Hollywood, Tokvo, Toronto, New York and Vancouver. Included are ex-Prime Minister Kim Campbell, authors Margaret Atwood and Alice Munro, astronaut Roberta Bondar, singers Joni Mitchell and Sarah McLachlan, rower Silken Latusmann, skier Nancy Greene-Raine and figure skater va ko za iciaeme wc BRUCE Alien, Adams’ ‘manager, was on hand at . the exhibdit’s opening. ADAMS ‘welcomed special guests and the public in the lohby of Torontc’s Roya! Ontario Museum. MARGARET Trudeau, the former wife of Pierre Trudeau, congratulated Adams for Made In Canada.
