CANADA’S best colle- giate soccer program is in North Vancouver. Capilano College was honoured June 5 in Halifax by the Canadian Coflegiate Athletics Association — for achieving the highest aggre- gate standing in men’s and women's soccer. “These awards are a reflec- tion of the work done by our coaches over the past 15 years,” says Capilano College athletics’ director = Joe lacobellis. “It is also a retlec- tion of the player develop- ment, which gocs on far youth soccer in North Vancouver and Burnaby.” Capilano College was the driving force behind the first national collegiate men’s tournament in 1983. The men’s team has won it four times, most recently in 1997. The women are the defending champions and have four gold and medals since the first women’s cham- pionship in 1987.
