Though the ‘fown Car
doesn’t look sporty, it handles
surprisingly well, thanks in
part to some rear suspension
revisions to improve straight-
line tracking and stabiliry.

Handling package for owners
who want a little more firm-
ness in the suspension.

I'm not sure if that makes
ita ‘hot-rod Lincoly’, but in
my opinion, the Town Car
handles and rides better than
its front-wheel-drive sibling,
the Continental.

The Town Car comes in
three trim levels, Executive,
Signature and Cartier.

Executive models, which
start at $50,195, include the
4.6-liter V8 engine and auto
matic transmission, speed-sen-
sitive power- ed steering,
four-wheel disc brakes with
ABS, and all-speed traction
control,

Standard interior features
include leather upholstery,
automatic climate control,
AM/FM stereo with cassette
player, power windows,
power door locks, remote
keyless entry with trunk
telease, cruise control, com-
pass, intermittent wipers, tilt
steering wheel, and auxiliary
12 volt outlez.

The next step up, the
Signature model, starts at
$21,295.

It adds eight-way power
seats for driver and passenger,
steering wheel controls for
the sterco and heater, front
and rear armrests, and a dri-
ver’s seat thar automatically
moves back when vou take
the key aut of the ignition.
Signature models with the
Touring Sedan (handling)
package include wider
235/60TR- 16 inch tires,
chrome wheels, revised
springs and shock absorbers
and bigger stabilizer bars,
dual exhausts, a different
rear axle ratio, heavy duty
torque converter, and inside,
a dark Bird’s Eye Maple
woed tam.

To the standard Signature
me.del, top-of-the-line Cartier
models ($52,795) add a JBL
Audio system, heated front
seats, premium leather uphol-
stery, an analog clock, and
dual exhausts which boost
horsepower from 200 to 220.

Town Car’s come with a
standard four year/80,000
kilometer warranty.

Compared ty its German,
English and Jananese cont-
petitors, the Town Car is
much more affordable. And
at the moment, it docsn’t
have any American competi-
tors with rear-wheel-drive,
