Here’s an anecdote about
a woman named Jill who had
herself a wee bit of a fender
bender noz Jong ago. In and
around that crazy intersection
in North Van known as
Bewicke and Marine Drive --
where Marine forks into both
Third Street and Keith Road,
and vice versa — Jill decided

said intersection.

Curiously, Jill decided to
make a left carn from what
had recently become Third
Street, over a double solid
yeliow line, and across two
oncoming lanes of traffic (aa
easier right turn could have
been made from Keith
Road). She managed to
ascertain that there was no
waffic approaching her from
behind — indeed, chat light
had turned red — and she
also noted that the approach-
ing fellow who's path she was
about to cross had stopped
for her and actually waved
her through. An “I’m not
going anywhere, go ahead
and get some gas” kind of
wave.

Jill inched her way for-
ward and put part of her

and final lane which she
seeded to cross when she
realized that there was a car
approaching ja thar lane. She
stopped for this car.

One would expect, at this
point, Lam about to colorful-
ly describe the screeching of
ures and the sickening thud
of a car crash. Bur one would
be wrong. There was a pecu-
liar Jack of screeching tires,
though there was the sicken-
ing thud made when cars col-
lide. Poor Jill.

After enduring some ver-
bal abuse from several drivers
who’s paths were now
blocked — how indicative of
today's selfish-bastard men-
tality -— Jill and her fellow
collider managed to get their
cars off the road and into the
Chevron parking lor.

Cutting to the chase, Jill
asked the colliding woman —
