Q: How do I get rid
of Yellow Stains?

Oneal the most common causes of yellow or
tan stains is [rom contact or spillage of solutions that
contain tannin or sugar. Such staining substances are
found in juices, soft drinks, coffee, tea, candy, and var-
ious other foods or beverages. Sometiines these stains
are invisible when the moisture evaporates, but they
oxidize with age or the heat of drying or linishing after
cleaning.

In some cases, routine spot removal techniques
using tannin or protein formulas are unsuccessful.
These garments may be improved by weicleaning with
hydrogen peroxide,

The wash bucket or sink should contain enough
water to. completely submerge the garment. Four
ounces of three pescent hydrogen peroxide should be
added for every gallon of water. This particular bleach
is very stow acting, so patience is required.

Soak the stained garment for +ix to eight hours
and then check for progress. If the stains are removed
or no reduction is apparent, just rinse in cold water and
air dry. However, if progress is being made, make up a
new bath solution and repeat the process. This proce-
dure can be repeated as many times as needed.

Remember. hydrogen peroxide is safe on all fab-
tics, but not all colors. Test suspect dyes prior to the
Beach bath. as
