3.0-litre standard and 3.8-litre optional engines.

Subtle changes made

THE TREND-SETTING and
award-winning Ford Taurus has
incorporated subtle styling changes
for ’89, including a new grille and
headlamp and taillamp lenses. It
also offers a new optional Ford
JBL audio system.

The Taurus is a winner of nearly
two dozen awards, including
Motor Trend magazine’s most
prestigious Car of the Year award
and the Automotive Journalists of
Canada’s Best Domestic Sedan ti-
tle in 1986. Two years later, Road
& Track magazine selected Taurus
as one of the ‘Best Cars in the
World,’ an honor based on the ex-
cellent value the car provides.

The mid-size Taurus is offered
in L, GL and LX series, as either a
four-door sedan or wagon. The
Yaurus wagon is the best-selling
wagon in Canada.

Standard powertrain for L and
GL sedans is a 2.5-litrz, four-
cylinder engine with multi-port
electronic fuel injection and a
three-speed automatic transaxle. A
3.0-lire EFI V-6 engine with a
four-speed automatic overdrive
transaxle is standard on the LX
sedan and GL wagon models.

In addition, high performance
will be brought to the highly suc-
cessful Taurus lineup in 1989, with
Taurus SHO. SHO stands for
‘Super High Output,’ and the car,
with a unique 220hp engine, has
been timed from zero to 100kph at
7.3 seconds.

Also available on “GL and LX
sedan and standerd on LX wagons
is a 3.8-litre EFI V-6 engine with
an automatic overdrive transaxle.

Offered in Taurus for the first
time is the Ford JBL Audio System
with a 140-watt premium amplifier

nels, plus an exclusive ‘Excursion
Control Computer,’ ensuring that

to the Taurus interior.

terval windshield wipers. Speed
control also is standard on Taurus
LX.

am/fm stereo search radio; elec-
tronic digital clock; dual electric
remote control mirrors;
front-disc/rear-drum brakes; and
power rack-and-pinion steering.
