Pat Boname at a re- cent council meeting. Local land surveyor Bill Chap- man, agent for the owners of the property under consideration, ex- plained that Mr. and Mrs. Bergthorson hoped. to pivot the property line slightly in the pro- posed subdivision of their lot to save their showpiece garden. This would have made one half of the subdivision wider in the front, and tne other half wider in the back. “It seems senseless to move the house and destroy the garden or destroy the house,"* said Chap- man. Owners of property in the area, Ken Fairhurst and Larry Gould, pointed out that the frontage of one of the new lots would be less : than the 80 foot minimum. Paul Robillard and Daphne Baverstock pointed out that the property has been committed for sale to a construction company. “It is therefore highly question- able as to whether the gardens will be preserved or maintained by the new owner,’’ submitted Robillard and Baverstock. ‘*Houses and gardens come and go...it’s better not to bend the rules,”” said Ald.
