Well, the world is certainly changing, . but have people’s manners changed? Is everybody lock- ed into thelr own little Selfish world? This week the Inquir- ing Reporter asks: Is chivalry dead? 1 am just astounded by our _ MP’s latest ‘Report from ‘Ottawa,’ (July 76) in which he seeks to blame the Catholic Church and Quebec education system for isola- ting French: speaking Cana- dians from the mainstream of Canadian life. Perhaps at one time this could be held to be true, but certainly no longer. In the early .1950s our present Prime Minister became. act- ive in a monthly publication called ‘Cité Libre.’ It was instrumental-in turning lib- eral and progressive forces in Quebec against the Union Nationale regime of Maurice Duplesis. It maintained an avante garde position in saying things others dared not say about politics and society in Quebec.
