Survived by his wife Kathleen, son Ross, daughter-in-law Helan and granddaughter Melanie of: Toron- to, daughter Sharon, son-in-law Egan and granddaughter Meghan of Richmond 8.C., sister Glennis McLeod of Toronto and sister-in- law Margaret Beckingham = of West Vancouver. Mr. McLeod was born in Toronto and served in the R.C.AF. during the Second World War from 1940 to 1945..in 1969 he moved to Vancouver with wife Kathleen. Mr. McLeod was a very busy per- son, involved in many organiza- lions, including The Boy Scouts, the Presbyterian Church and the Progressive Conservative Association; he was a-member of the Norman Mitchell VC Branch No 87 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was president of Lighthouse Industries Limited and served as a member of the Steering Group for the North Shore Economic Development Advisory Committee. He was honored by Canada in 1953, when he was awarded The Coronation Medal, and in 1967, when he was awarded The Centennial Medal, both for service to his community and his country. In 1960 he was honored by the Legion and was presented with The Meritorious Service Medal, the Legion's highest honor. He was the first Second World War veteran to receive this award. Norman McLeod was a very pop- ular and special person with many many friends who will always remember him - especial- ly close to Christmastime, when he was so hard to contact.
