She may also see action in the women’s relay if veteran Ann Ottenbrite does not recover from a knee injury in time for the Games. Borsholt is no stranger in international competition. There she placed 11th in the 200 metre breaststroke, and 15th ‘n the 100 metre event. Borsholt’s key to success may be her attitude. She says she has always approached swimming as ‘‘fun’’, not asa. ‘*pressure’’ sport. AS a result, she says her first Olympics were not planned, rather she just ‘‘sort of hap- pened to make the team.”’ Training for the 1984 Olympics has taken Borsholt to training camp at UBC, where the team has swimm- ing workouts twice, a: day. Weight training takes place Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Borsholt says the actual Olympic training does not drastically differ from regular competitive swimm- ing training, except for the attitude of the swimmers. ‘‘During the year we have eight months to make Olym- pic trials. Now we only have six weeks. So it’s much more intense,’’ says Borsholt. Among the six coaches of the 38 member Canadian squad are Dave Johnson, head men’s coach and Derek Snelling, head women’s coa h.
