The Eagle Harbor resident
who has done everything with
the Vancouver Whitecaps
before taking over the pro-
gram of developing our na-
tional soccer teams, has just

coaching England’s profes-
sional Youth Team.

He was asked at the time to
allow a book to be ghosted
for him, about coaching, but
re refused, saying that when
he did one, he would be the
One to do it.

And now he has. And the
wait was worth it. The
chapters are divided into
three sections. The first is for
the kids who can practice on
their own or in the backyard
or where ever with a couple
of friends. The second sec-
tion is for the mother or
father who suddenly finds
themselves ‘helping out’ with
the kids; and the third section
is for the coach of the young
team. The range is from the
simple to the highly
sophisticated.

If there is a central theme
running through this book it
is that of simplicity and fun
at all levels. For the kids in
the yard, or for the team
working on. sophisticated
movements, that fun and
simplicity 1s constant.
