GRADE 7 West Vancouver
students will again attend
high school rather than
elementary school next fall in
what has proven to be a suc-

cessful move.

Because of three elemen-
tary school closures
necessitated by a = smaller
school population in West
Van, over 400 Grade 7

students and a dozen teachers
went off to classrooms in
high school last fail.

Principals from Hillside,
Sentinel and West Van
Secondary reported that
school openings in September
went ‘‘very smoothly.’’ The
change to a high school set-
ting has meant some changes
for the grade 7s living in the
outlying areas of the school

district.

But the Grade 7s have
adapted very well, states Iris
McEwen, vice-principal in
charge of Hillside*s Grade 7s.
‘*Some people didn’t think it
would work, but it has. I’ve
enjoyed the challenge.’’
