(Ellsworth Dickson photo) ‘Embarrassed’ about smashing van window A man who smashed a van window after getting drunk on New Year’s Eve later became very embarrassed about the incident when he realized what he had done, native court worker Janet Baker told North Vancouver Provincial Court Wed- nesday. Richard James Newman, aged 20, of 433 West 3rd. Street, North Vancouver, pleaded guilty to a mischief charge of wilful damage to a van belonging to Keith Nahanee. ~ Crown counsel Ken Beauchamp said the incident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. January 1 when Nahanee’s van was broken into by the driver's window being smashed. Beauchamp said Nahanee saw Newman closing the van door and taking a cushion, a child’s jacket and a beige jacket. Nahanee went after him and got the items back.
