A DECISION on ‘photo
radar was deferred by the
West Vancouver Police
Board until B.C. data is
available.

Police spokesman Barry
Nickerson said board mem-'
bers at a Thursday meeting
voted 3-1 to postpone the deci-
sion because they did not want
to base their position or infor-
mation that is dated or:
obtained outside the country.
A final decision on photo
radar wil] be made within a
year, said Nickerson.

Only Bill Ferguson, who is
against setting up the long lens
of the law in West Vancouver,
voted against the deferral
motion, Nickerson added.

The five-member. police
board, chaired by Mayor Mark
Sager, had spent time during
three meetings to discuss
whether to implement photo
radar.

On Feb. 19, Sager predict- .
ed photo radar would be |
opposed by the board.
