Institute of Municipal
Clerks (IIMC) board of
directors — Region X
(serving Canada) dur-
ing the 54th IIMC

Hawkshaw will serve a
three-year term culminating in
2003

Hawkshaw has been city
clerk since 1985. His responsi-
bilities include managing the
statutory duties of the city

clerk; head of freedom of
information and protection of

privacy — legislation; — public
information officer for emer-
gencies and disasters; adminis-
tering the cemetery and the
coordination of filming per-
mits; managing the bylaw/
parking enforcement of the
city: and being responsible for
the city’s advertising budget

and press releases.
Hawkshaw is a) Certified
Municipal Clerk (CMC), and

a Fellow of the Institute of

Chartered Seeretaries and
Administrators. He has
received othe Governor-
General's Gold Medal fer
highest academic marks and a
senior certificate in: municipal
administration. Hawkshaw is a

commerce graduate from the
University of British
Columbia.

a professional non-profit asse-
ciation with more than 10,000
members throughout North
America and 15 other coun-
tries, representing municipali-
ties with populations of 1,000
to more than eight million.
