Vespa crash

A Vespa moter scooter rider remains in Lions

bus on Oct. 22 near East Keith Road and Grand

Avenue and was turning on to east Grand Boulevard. The B.C.
Transit bus crossed in front of west-bound Keith Road traffic
when the Vespa hit the bus at 8:30 p.m, police say.
The Vespa rider, a 32-year-old North Vancouver resident,
was taken to Lions Gate Hospital in critical condition with
extensive injuries. A North Vancouver RCMP spokesman said
the Vespa driver’s condition was upgraded to serious and he is

expected to survive. No name was released.
No one was injured on the bus, which received minor dam-

age.

Police are investigating whether the Vespa’s headlight was
on or if it was dimly lit. The Vespa scooter was a 1970s model.

ed burglary in Vancouver
before the chase.

In an unrelated incident

that occurred five hours ecarli- |

er, a stolen 1985 Toyota van
collided with 2 1973 Datsun
at Fell and Welch. The van’s
driver took off. The 26-year-
old Datsun driver was taken to
take to Lions Gate Hospital.
He was released the same day.
Police are investigating.
