your dad next Sunday

FATHER’S DAY is a family day and it’s celebrated in just
about as many ways as there are families.

Research proves that everyone
responds differently to Father’s
Day. Listed below are ways to
celebrate and make Faiher’s Day a
day to remember.

@ Give dad the gift of love.
There’s nothing you could do that
would be more appreciated than
to give your dad love on Father's
Day. This is a gift which costs
nothing and is more valuable than
the most expensive gift imagin-
able.

@ Send him a greeting card; it is
the thoughtfuiness which will
make his day a special one.

@ Think about arranging a family
get-together, topped off with a
dinner at home or an outdoor
barbecue.

@ Treat Dad to a dinner at his
favorite restaurant.

@ Take him to — or participate
with your dad in — the annual
North Shore News Sailing Race.

@ For a remembrance that will
live on through the years, give
him some photos or a photo
album of the family. Leave some
space in the album for Father’s

Day pictures.

@ A Father’s Day phone call is
an easy and thoughtful gift to
give. The long distance lines may
be crowded that day, but Dad will
uppreciate the effort — so keep
on trying until you reach him.
Just remember not to call collect
— that’s not fair.

@ Treat Dad to a movie. Or bring
in a new release for the family
VCR.

@ Take him out to a ball game —
the Vancouver Canadians play at
home next Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
You will both love it, and if there
are any grandchildren take them
along as well.

® IF Dad enjoys simple things,
joining him for a relaxing walk
through the woods, along the
beach or even downtown, will give
him the feeling of family
togetherness. And the exercise will
be good for both of you.

@ Buy him a gift. But be prac-
tical when buying. Research shows
that most fathers like gifts they
need. If you don’t know what he
needs, ask Mom.
