Watershed logging forum scheduled A PUBLIC forum cn how logging in local watershed areas affects Lower Mainland drinking water has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Robson Square Media Centre, 800 Robson St., Vancouver. Presented by the Western Cauada Wilderness Committee (WCWOC), the forum will include representation from the Greater Vancouver Regional District, the B.C. Ministry of Environment, UBC’s department of forestry and the WCWC. It is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. The WCWC has argued that clear-cut logging in the GVRD’s Capilano, Seymour and Coquitlam watershed areas is having a detrimental effect on Lower Mainland drinking water quality. But the GVRD has maintained that clear-cut logging is done only in 10-acre patches, and that timber harvesting practices in the wa- tershed areas are designed to minimize erosion and maintain water quality as a top priority. Tickets are available at the door. For information call 683-8220.
