FOLLOWING A request to “go fly a kite,” MP Mary

Lonsdale Quay Market Friday. The completion of the
roof heralds the beginning of the end of construction for
the complex. The 40,000 square foot public market is

The sculpture, originally
to cost $125,000 will be built
for the $100,000 so far rais-
ed, But Cantafio said con-
tinued fundraising will cover
the cost of prize money
already distributed to run-
ners-up in the sculpture con-
test and administration
costs.

“Council may have had
mixed emotions about the
sculpture,’’? Cantafio said,
“but we do have the majori-

ty’s approval. Two members
expressed their disapproval
of the project, but they’re
entitled. 1 have no hard feel-
ings about that.’

Mayor Jack Loucks told
the News, “Whether one
likes the sculpture or not, we.
have to agree that the Arts
Council has worked hard.
Therefore the city. has

. fulfilled its obligation, while

it has also protected the city
against any problems. or
liabilities.”’ .

Loucks said the Arts
