In light of when the standards were drawn up and socicty’s now stronger awareness of pollution, we might suggest those existing Jaws are far too lenient. Mills in the Howe Sound area have been polluting well over “*yesterday’s fimits'’ for many years, We suggest they be heavily fined for that and be charged back all the costs of the case iaunched earlier against them. Now is the time to get tough AT THE HORTH SHORE 1395 East Keith Rd. North Vancouver Phone: 985-4135 at Granviile 1470 W. Broadway with these firms for the years of abuse they have wreaked on Jocal society and the ‘using’ of politi- cians eager to keep jobs for votes. Throw the book at them, we say, as Howe Sound residents for 18 years. They have polluted our air and water for their profit and at the expense of al! the residents in Howe Seund and area and West Van. Three hundred people ruining it for 20,000. A lot of people have heard of this surgery and are contemplating having it done and I am concerned that they don’t realize that it is a major operation and can have complica- My mother recently opted to have this surgery but a while after the titanium posts were in place her lower jaw broke for no ap- parent reason. This placed her in the hospital, on intravenous, for over one month this past summer. She is again in the hospital hav- ing a bone graft from her hip to her jaw. As well, there will be at least another three surgeries for her over the next year. She has not and will not be able to eat solid food for some time. I want to advise anyone con- sidering this treatment to seek a second and third opinion no mat- ter how competent the dentists and surgeons they are dealing with.
