nmeorth shore Protest PST VERTAKED parents: if you’re tired of being the dupes in the latest NDP caarity shell game, West Vancouver's Richard Kinar needs your help. The Caulfeild-area parent has been leading the charge in the fight against an insidious application of the provin- cial sales tax (PST). His question: why does the provin- cial government continue to charge PST on items that are purchased for schools through community and par- ent fundraising? Thus far, he has received no reasonable answers. hie and pel chore fundraising long shore the shaky foundations of this province’ "s misman- _ aged education system. “ihe Liberal’ ton has estimat- ed that parents raised $30 miilion-for PST charged on that fundraising comes to just over $2 million — blood money squeezed from the community spirit and volunteer efforts of parents. But despite the government stonewalling that has met Mr. Kinar’s inquiries, the West Vancouver man continues to gather support from fel- fow fleeced parents. Kinar and those fellow parents have organized a province-wide Parent’s Day of Protest for Tuesday, Nov. 2. On that day Kinar and his group are urging parents all over the province to call their focal MLA’s Victoria office, constituency office and Ministry of - Finance office. The protest will add much weight to the cause. It could also help right what continues to be an egregious wrong inflicted om the already sorely abused B.C, taxpayer. mews EWPOINT ».. school supplies in 1998, Principles vs. votes: pus none too soon, say many of his + ‘had been born and nurtured to man- ~ heed in the west — remaii ‘inviolate. seit and supporters who sec.
