Noting the stellar perfor- mance of West Vancouver stu- dents compared with the provincial average, Krieger said: “Kids in West Vancouver aren’t smarter than other stu- dents and kids. “West Vancouver doesn’t have better teachers. Our stu- dents are the best supported at home and that enables them to take advantage of all the opportunities,” he said. He pointed to students in poor areas that are only 15 minutes by car from the North Krieger, 47, started teach- ing in West Vancouver in . 1974. He was president of the WVTA from 1986 to 1989. From 1989 to 1993, he was on the staff at the BCTF. He is again full-time presi- dent of the WVTA, but says he teaches when he can. He recently taught History 12 students about = the Holocaust, which claimed dozens of his relatives in Europe.
