a wholesale revitalization — com-
plete with culturai centre (civi-
lized, eh wot!) — that has estab-
lished it as an idyllic destination
for strolling and casual dining.

by Danny and Susie Fung in early
May. Clean and bright family-run
cafe at the upper end of Gallant
Avenue strip. Kitty corner to the
Deep Cove Cultural Centre.

Menu: No surprises here. Various
appetizers ($1.75 to $6.25 for the
well-worn chicken wings, zucchi-
ni stick and calamari routine).
Luncheon entrees: Burgers and
sandwiches ($6 to $8; Club,
Vegetarian and New York Steak
options available).Pasta ($8 to $9;
Tortelline Alfredo, Chicken Penne
Oriental, par example); Fish and
Chips ($4.75 to $8.25 for one-
and two-piece cod and halibut
variations).
Dinner entrees ($9 to $13): a half
dozen, ranging from Grilled
Westcoast Salmon to Stuffed
Breast of Chicken Polenta and
Shrimp Creole.
A limited wine selection is avail-
able. Four white and two red. All
offered by the glass, 4 litre and
bottle (($4 to $17).
Food quality. Simple, but well
made, Not adventurous, but not
pretentious.
Service: Family-style friendly
with limited finesse.

Vlad Pabis, who owas Honey's

Small stand-up cappuccino bar
with a few stools inside and some
tables on the Gallant Avenue
promenade.
Televisions inside tuned to sports
action. Loud music, style of
which depends on who is behind
the Dinghy counter.
Menu: Primarily scup, sandwich
and bagels ($2.25 up to $5.25).
Fruit smoothies, milkshakes and
gourmet Italian ice cream ($1.25
for one scoop up to $3.50 for
triple). A host of interesting fla-
vors (Apricot Ripple, Double’
Chocolate Fudge). Cappuccinos
and other rerderings of the bean
($1 to $2.75),
Food quaiity: Good hearty, whole--
some stuff.
Service: Bright young folk behind —
the smali counter. ;
Atmosphere: Caffeine-powered
informality that is conducive to -
summer-time beachside village
atmosphere. Invites hanging out... -
